This space is an extension of my work as a counselor educator, clinical mental health counselor, and supervisor, grounded in a wellness-oriented, strengths-based approach to mental health.
I earned my doctorate in Counselor Education from Oregon State University and work in both clinical mental health counseling and counselor supervision. My professional focus centers on helping individuals identify, build, and sustain habits and coping strategies that support their overall health and well-being.
A core belief guiding this work is that learning coping skills doesn’t have to feel clinical, intimidating, or disconnected from real life. Pop culture—movies, television, music, books, and familiar characters—offers a shared language that helps people make sense of emotions, stressors, and personal growth in ways that feel accessible and human.
This site blends mental health education with pop-culture reflection, using familiar stories to illustrate therapeutic concepts, normalize emotional experiences, and encourage practical skill use in everyday life. The goal is not analysis for analysis’ sake, but connection—helping people see themselves, their struggles, and their strengths reflected in stories they already know and love.
This website provides coping skills, reflections, and educational information related to common life stressors and mental health topics.
The content here is not intended to replace formal counseling, psychological services, or medical treatment. If you are experiencing significant distress, worsening symptoms, or believe professional support is needed, please seek care from a licensed mental health or medical provider.

Life is rough!
Have you ever found yourself going through a self-help book or watching self-help video on YouTube but when life happens, you cannot remember the skill…
People learn better when they can connect prior information to new information. Therapypopculture uses pop culture (books, movies, comics, TV, movies, sports, etc.) as a way to help learn new coping skills to achieve health and wellness.
